From a ’90s kandi raver to the founder of KANDILAND
Hi, I’m Lindsay, founder of KANDILAND. Welcome to my vision!
I grew up in the 90s EDM scene in the Tampa Bay Area. Old school kandi raver here. Back then we just referred to it as techno, and then the subgenres of house, jungle, breaks, and drum and bass started to emerge. It was such an exciting development to witness!
I took a break from the scene for quite some time to work on my education and raise my daughter. The clubbing stopped, but the listening never did
Fast-forward a few years later, I find myself living in Chicago. That’s a whole other story, but when I learned that I was living in the city that is considered the Home of House, I can’t even express to you my sheer delight and the feeling I have made it HOME. No longer a kandi raver, but I’m definitely more seasoned and better educated! I saw a need in this fantastic city of Chicago, AKA the Home of House.
Why I’m building KANDILAND
At shows, in festival groups, and among friends, I kept hearing the same questions:
“What are you wearing?”
“Where can we shop for last-minute outfits?”
“Does anyone want the look I wore last time?”
Enter KANDILAND! A space to shop, consign, and prepare for your next festival!
With a background in fashion retail, marketing, and sewing, I’m bringing both my experience and my love of the scene to KANDILAND.
Your next look. Your next dance floor.
My vision for KANDILAND brings together new festival fashion, accessories, and AFTERS, pre-loved pieces ready for another night out.
As we grow, I’m working toward a space for festival glam, kandi making, local creators, and music. Imagine choosing your perfect mix of pony beads by the ounce, getting ready with friends, and discovering a local DJ or your new favorite vendor along the way.
A little sparkle. A lot of self-expression. And room to make it your own.
PLUR, how you like it.
KANDILAND is just getting started. I’m excited to build it with you!
See you on the dance floor,
Lindsay
